Day 1: Lima

Welcome to Lima, the city of Kings! Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport and privately escorted to your hotel Accommodation in Lima

Day 2: Lima: City Tour San Francisco and Larco Herrera Museum

In the morning (or afternoon), your tour explores Miraflores and San Isidro, the modern districts of Lima and its historic center, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The tour includes a visit of San Francisco, the city's most visited church (1674). Its underground tunnels lead to catacombs that served as cemetery until 1808 and still contain bones and skulls. Our next stop is the Larco Herrera Museum. The collection allows the understanding of 3,000 years of the Peruvian pre-Columbian history in an intuitive way. Its masterpieces are considered worldwide icons of pre-Inca art and have been displayed in the world's most renowned museums. Accommodation in Lima

Day 3: Lima/Arequipa - City Tour & Santa Catalina Convent

At proper time, transfer to the airport to take your flight to Arequipa Flight Lima - Arequipa At your arrival assistance and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, be captivated by the beautiful "White City of Arequipa" name given because of the volcanic ashlars stones used in its structure. Admire the Main Square, the Cathedral, make a stop at the viewing platforms of Carmen Alto and Yanahuara to get a great photo of the city, finally visit Saint Catalina Convent built in the 16th century with its 215,000 sq. ft. of prison cells, convents, volcanic stone fountains surrounded by gardens and narrow alleys. Day 4: Arequipa/Colca Valley

Admire and appreciate the wonderful mountain scenery near the majestic flight of the condor in the Colca Canyon, considered the deepest canyon in the world. Early in the morning you will leave Arequipa via Yura along the skirts Chachani mountain, Pampa de Arrieros, Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve where you may admire the vicuñas. We will continue to Vizcachani and Pampas de Toccra, home to a large variety of birds. Once in Chivay recover your energy with a delicious lunch and then enjoy the afternoon on your own. As a suggested activity we recommend a visit to "La Calera",( hot water Springs) known for its natural medicinal purpose. (this activity is not included, please ask for rates). Overnight in Colca Valley.

Day 5: Colca Valley /Arequipa

Appreciate a beautiful Andean sunrise along the Colca Canyon towards the path that leads to the "Cross of the Condor", a place offering the most spectacular landscapes of the entire canyon, here you can see the elegant flight of these huge birds whose wings extend up to 03 meters; admire its majestic flight and get an excellent view of the Colca Canyon, a unique opportunity to take great pictures. You will return to Chivay for lunch (not included) and finally take the bus to Puno Accommodation in Arequipa.

Day 6: Arequipa/Cusco - City Tour & Archaeological Park

Transfer to the airport to take your flight to Cusco Flight Lima - Arequipa Upon arrival, meeting at the airport and transfer to your hotel In the afternoon admire the wonderful pre-Hispanic and colonial legacy of Cusco, an interesting journey where you will learn about the Temple of the Sun "Koricancha", ancient place of worship to the Sun God of the Incas where the convent of Santo Domingo was located, admire the beauty of the Main Square of Cusco and observe the most known sculptures and paintings in Cuzcanian Art inside the cathedral. Continuing the city suburbs we will visit the Inca complexes of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive Sacsayhuaman Fortress, strategically built on a hill overlooking Cusco, famous for its huge stones of its external walls, cut and assembled with stunning precision. Day 7: Cusco/Sacred Valley of the Incas

Visit the Sacred Valley, a picturesque tour where you can see important archaeological remains, landscapes and village customs. This tours starts with a first stop at Awanacancha Complex, here you can have the chance to feed Andean Camelids such as "llamas" and "alpacas"; also you can have the opportunity to meet local people who will show their techniques for weaving in their local sites. The tour will include the visit of the typical Pisaq Market where you can have the opportunity to shop or buy local handcrafts and try the traditional local costumes. Enjoy a buffet lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon you'll visit Ollantaytambo Fortress, made up by series of overlapped steps and terraces, built to protect the city from any invasion coming from the jungle through this part of the valley. You'll have the opportunity to walk the narrow streets of the village and get a first-hand feeling of this military, religious and cultural center of the Inca Empire. Accommodation in Sacred Valley

Day 8: Sacred Valley/ Machu Picchu/Cusco.

Live one of the most fascinating and extraordinary experiences of the world: Machu Picchu. The adventure begins by embarking on one of the most beautiful railway routes, pass through picturesque Andean landscapes and enjoy the amazing lush jungle until you arrive to the City of Aguas Calientes; here you´ll take the bus for a 30 minute drive along a zigzaging path leading to the marvelous citadel. Machu Picchu may have been home to Pachacutec, first Inca emperor. Walk through passageways and alleys of the citadel enjoy and take in this unique place in the world. Take free time to enjoy the mystic energy and natural beauty of the site before returning to Aguas Calientes for lunch. In the afternoon you´ll take your train back to Cusco. Accommodation in Cusco.

Day 9: Cusco/Puerto Maldonado-Hacienda Concepción

Transfer from the hotel to the airport to board your flight to Puerto Maldonado Flight Cusco - Puerto Maldonado Travelling to Tambopata National Reserve offers a unique opportunity to discover a lively biodiversity of birds, mammals, reptiles and trees. Record-setting numbers of animal species are concentrated within small areas, and the variety of plant life is greater than almost anywhere in the world. To help you experience the wonder of this magic place, we have prepared a programmed itinerary for your stay at Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion. Start your journey arriving to Puerto Maldonado, where our staff will welcome you and provide the necessary information for your stay. Navigate by outboard motorized canoe along the Madre de Dios River to Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion for approximately 25 minutes. Enjoy Lunch with organic ingredients and native flavors. After lunch, take a walk through Concepcion trails, the inside property nature trails, where you will discover and learn about primary and secondary rainforest, its components, uses, transformations by the human being, and its relevance for the world. At dusk navigate by outboard motorized canoe, at the TWILIGHT RIVER excursion. By sailing on the Madre de Dios River, you will learn about its ecosystem, Amazonian creeks, nocturnal animals' behavior, and the southern constellations. Day 10: Hacienda Concepción

New experiences are ahead and after taking a nutritious buffet breakfast, get ready for a long trek through terra firme into the Tambopata National Reserve towards Lake Sandoval. Here you will understand why Madre de Dios is called the biodiversity capital of Peru, while learning about the Reserve's conservation efforts and the lake's formation. Navigate by dugout canoe across this mirror-like oxbow lake that is home to the endangered giant river otter (Pteronura brasiliensis), blue and yellow macaw (Ara ararauna), red howler monkey (Alouatta seniculus), black caiman (Melanosuchus niger), and one of the world's biggest fresh water scaled fish, the paiche (Arapaima gigas). Back to the lodge for lunch, and later The Inkaterra Canopy Walkway & Anaconda walk await for you. Take a 20-minute ride by outboard motorized canoe to the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway Interpretation Center where you will learn about its construction and the conservation projects of ITA-Inkaterra Asociación (NGO). Ascend one of the two 98-foot towers (30 m.) and cross the 7 hanging bridges that connect the treetops at 91 ft. high (28 m.). Enjoy the breathtaking vistas and get the chance to watch white-throated toucans (Ramphastos tucanus), woodpeckers, trogons, squirrel monkeys (Saimiri boliviensis) and the three-toed sloth (Choleopus hoffmani). After descending keep on feeling the incredible primary rainforest energy going along the 200-meter wooden bridge over the swamps (aguajales). You will learn about the fauna and flora of this flooded ecosystem. At night get ready for an adventure at the rainforest by night excursion, where you will explore the Amazon rainforest that gives way to nocturnal animals who display intriguing behavior patterns, and enhanced senses as adaptation mechanisms. Day 11: Hacienda Concepción

The sun rises once again and after an early breakfast you will take our native farm excursion where you will be able to learn local techniques of cultivation and taste some of the products during the visit. Then visit the botanical garden, discover the immense variety of medicinal plants considered part of the "natural pharmacy" used by the habitants at the amazon region. Compare the medicinal uses of local medicine with traditional remedies. Getting back to Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion you will have LUNCH. Take a rest and get ready for the cocha water excursion. Enjoy a dugout canoe ride on the Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion natural pond (cocha). Try native fishing applying the "catch and release" techniques, as you enjoy the scenery observing hoatzins (Opisthocomus hoazin), a diversity of fly catchers, and gray-necked woodrails (Aramides cajanea). Disembark at the remains of Fitzcarrald steam boat; learn about its history and how it inspired Inkaterra to ask Werner Herzog to film the award-winning "Fitzcarraldo", best director at Cannes, 1982. You will be able to participate in the inland collpa during the evening, where you will see different species and their night routines by observing through our "blinds". Day 12: Hacienda Concepción/Puerto Maldonado/Lima/…

After breakfast buffet, take a ride back to Puerto Maldonado by outboard motorized canoe. Arrive at the Butterfly House where you may wait for your flight back home or to your next destination, while visiting this beautiful butterfly house and learning about the fascinating transformation of these colorful insects. Although lunch is not included on the last day, you can choose to have lunch at the lodge (pay directly at the hotel) or have a snack at the Butterfly House (additional cost).
