Day 1: Lima

Welcome to Lima, the city of Kings! Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport and privately escorted to your hotel Accommodation in Lima

Day 2: LIMA: CITY TOUR SAN FRANCISCO AND LARCO HERRERA MUSEUM

In the morning, your tour explores Miraflores and San Isidro, the modern districts of Lima and its historic center, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The tour includes a visit of San Francisco, the city's most visited church (1674). Its underground tunnels lead to catacombs that served as cemetery until 1808 and still contain bones and skulls. Our next stop is the Larco Herrera Museum. The collection allows the understanding of 3,000 years of the Peruvian pre-Columbian history in an intuitive way. Its masterpieces are considered worldwide icons of pre-Inca art and have been displayed in the world's most renowned museums. Afternoon at leisure Accommodation in Lima

Day 3: LIMA - PARACAS (260 km - approx. 4 hours)

Transfer to the bus station for the regular tourist bus service from Lima to Paracas (unescorted). On arrival to the bus station in Paracas you will be met and transferred to the hotel. Afternoon at leisure Accommodation in Paracas

Day 4: PARACAS - ICA - NASCA (229 km - approx. 3.5 hours)

In the morning, visit to the Ballestas Islands. Aboard a comfortable speedboat, you head out toward the ocean and the Ballestas Islands. Here you enjoy close-up observations of dozens of sea lions as they swim near the boat or sun themselves on shore and watch hundreds of various marine bird species including the Guanay Cormorant, Peruvian pelicans and with some luck even one of the famous Humboldt penguins (please note that there is no chance to disembark during this tour). At the end of your visit and at proper time, journey in a small group from Paracas to Nasca (approx. 4 hours). Your first stop will be at the oasis of Huacachina (5 km from Ica) which is surrounded by giant sand dunes and palms trees. Afterwards you will continue your journey to Nasca and stop at the museum of Maria Reiche. This small museum is housed in the former and modest home of Dr. Maria Reiche (1903-1998). Without her intervention, the drawings in Nasca would have remained undiscovered until today, possibly even destroyed. The German mathematician and archaeologist dedicated more than 50 years of her life to study, protect and measure the Nasca Lines. Maria's greatest legacy is the awareness she fostered to preserve the heritage of the Nasca culture - in her words 'excellent observers of the earth and the firmament'. Accommodation in Nasca

Day 5: NASCA - AREQUIPA (587 km - approx. 12 hrs)

Morning at leisure OPTIONAL: FLIGHT OVER THE NASCA LINES Discover the mystery of the Nazca Lines and appreciate them by air in a small aircraft. In this amazing tour, you can see these giant figures that the ancient inhabitants of Peru left marked on the vast Pampa de Nazca. Proof of the genius and wisdom our ancestors had. Dr. Maria Reiche, German archeologist who dedicated her life to studying the lines described it as the largest astronomical calendar in the world. We will fly over these mysterious drawings made in the sand that represent several animal shapes such as a spider, a monkey, a dog, a humming bird, a condor, amongst others; all of these having huge dimensions that vary from 50ft to 985 ft. in length and one foot depth. At proper time, transfer to the bus station to board the tourist bus to Arequipa (unescorted, approx. 12 hours). Day 6: AREQUIPA: WALKING CITY TOUR

Morning at leisure In the afternoon, half day walking city tour. Some of the old buildings were made of white volcanic material (sillar) which has given Arequipa the name of the 'white city'. The tour continues with the visit to the extraordinary Santa Catalina Convent. This cloister, built in the 16th century, is a huge complex of buildings that once served as a town within itself housing 450 nuns. Traditionally the oldest daughters of Arequipa's aristocratic families entered the convent in their early teens and spent their lives there, cloistered away. The convent complex has been beautifully refurbished, bringing the past vividly alive once more. Accommodation in Arequipa

Day 7: AREQUIPA - COLCA CANYON

Arequipa to Colca -In the early morning you will leave Arequipa and head towards the valley. On your way, you will pass Pampa de Arrieros, Pampa Cañahuas (where we find the Vicuna National Reserve of Aguada Blanca), Vizcachani and Tojra, a good place for spotting Andean birds. The majestic volcanoes Mismi (5,597 m/18,360 ft), Misti (5,825 m/19,110 ft), Chachani (6,075 m/19,930 ft) and the glaciers Ampato (6,288 m/20,630 ft), Sabancaya (5,976 m/19,606 ft) and Hualca Hualca (6,288 m/20,630 ft) provide picturesque panoramic views as you enter the Colca Valley. After four hours on the road you will arrive in Chivay, the most important town in the Colca Valley, where you will make a short stop to explore the local market. Day 8: COLCA CANYON - PUNO

Early morning drive to the observation point 'Mirador Cruz del Condor', located between Maca and Cabanaconde, one of the deepest parts of the canyon. Here, you find the perfect spot to look down 1,200 m (3,937 ft) into the canyon. It's here that the legendary condor, the bird with the largest wingspan in the world, can be seen rising and circling on the morning thermals, silhouetted against the magnificent backdrop of the mountain scenery. Afterwards you will make some stops in some of the picturesque towns on route to visit their colonial churches. You then say goodbye to Colca in order to continue your trip across Altiplano landscapes to Puno (only transportation). The average altitude on route reaches the 4,500 m (14,700 ft). After a 6-hour ride you reach the city on the shores of Lake Titicaca: Puno. Accommodation in Puno

Day 9: PUNO: UROS & TAQUILE

Our excursion by speed boat starts with a visit to one of the floating reed islands of the Uros before heading to island of weavers, Taquile. Unlike in the classic tour, this option offers a reduced time en route (e.g. 75 min from Taquile to Puno versus 2 hrs 30 min aboard the traditional boat) making your experience in the lake more pleasant. Day 10: PUNO - COPACABANA - SUN ISLAND - COPACABANA - LA PAZ

We depart at 07:30 (Time of Perú) from your hotel, after 2,5 hours of trip we arrive to the border of Kasani, where you will make migration procedures, change of vehicles, and meet our guide. Then we continue 30 minutes to the town of Copacabana. At 11:30 (Time of Bolivia) we arrive to Copacabana we will travel by boat to the Sun Island, at its south part we will visit Inca's archaeological site of Pilcocaina. Later we will visit Yumani, there we have "Escalinata del Inca" (Inca's stairs) and "Fuente de las 3 aguas" (the Source of the 3 Watersheds), enjoy a breath-taking view of the lake and the Royal Range of the Andes. Return to Copacabana in boat, where we will make a quick visit of the village and its church, it is a religious sanctuary in honor of Candelaria Madonna, an important pilgrimage site, and then we have a little time to visit the town and handicraft stores. We get back on the car, to get on our way to La Paz; it is a 3-hour trip. Accommodation in La Paz

Day 11: LA PAZ - UYUNI -UYUNI SALT FLAT - TAHUA

At the proper time, we will pick you up from your hotel and transfer to the airport. Flight La Paz - Uyuni (not included) At your arrival to Uyuni, we will be waiting at the airport to welcome you and give you the first instructions for the tour, you will have some free time to know the town and have breakfast on your own. The tour begins at 11:00 approximately, first we will visit the Train Cemetery and the town of Colchani where you can learn more about Uyuni's mining past and its artisanal salt production present, later we will enter to the amazing Uyuni Salt Flat, and arrive to the "Salt Hotel-Museum", the first of its kind that nowadays works only as a museum. On our way, we will be able to see fantastic optic illusions, able to see in raining season (December- March), and also, we will visit "Ojos de Agua" (Eyes of water), small salt eruptions which help us to explain the development of this huge salt lake. At noon, you will reach the "Incahuasi Island" in the middle of the Salt flat; there are extraordinary calcareous rocks, large populations of Cactus, local fauna and spectacular 360 grades panoramic views of the Salt Flat from the summit. We will continue our tour to the north part of the salt flat, there we visit a local museum, where we will be able to see pre-Columbian mummies and later we will get to the Salt Flat viewpoint at the foot of the Thunupa volcano. At the end of the afternoon, arrival to the town of Tahua to overnight. Accommodation in Tahua

Day 12: TAHUA - SILOLI DESERT

Leaving the salt flat behind we will travel along the volcanoes range with their eternal snow going to Lípez, there we will find the Ollagüe Volcano that we will observe at the distance. Then we restart the trip to the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve, on our way we will appreciate the lagoons called "Joyas Altoandinas" (Jewels from the High lands): Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarcota and Honda where you will have the chance to see different kinds of local birds, later we get to the Siloli Desert where we will make some stops to take pictures of this magnificent desert landscapes, overnight at the desert in an exotic rustic hotel "in the middle of nowhere" Accommodation in Siloli Desert

Day 13: SILOLI DESERT- GREEN LAGOON- UYUNI

This day we need to get up very early to start the tour at 6:30 approximately, our first activity is the visit to the Stone Tree, later we will get to the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve, arriving to the Geysers of "Sol de Mañana" smoky and noisy geysers, boiling mud stewpot where red and grey mud is boiling. Later we will enjoy a bath in the hot springs before we continue our trip in the reserve, on our way we will enjoy the panoramic view of the Dali Desert, there are columns of stones sculpted by the wind that resemble this famous painter work. After that, we will also appreciate the Laguna Verde (Green Lagoon), at the foot of Licancabur volcano. It's time to take the road back, we will visit the Laguna Colorada (The Red Lagoon), an impressing water source, the algae and plankton give the lagoon brown or intense red colors, this is the main flamingos nesting site and there it is possible to observe three kinds of flamingos of the region: James, Andino and Chileno We continue our journey, in the afternoon we will take a walk around the Rocks Valley, giant volcanic rocks between 8 to 15 meters high. Our last stop is at San Cristóbal village which has been moved from its original site to the actual one for the needs of one the biggest mine in Bolivia. Arrival to Uyuni at 18:00 approximately. Day 14: UYUNI - LA PAZ

In the morning, transfer to the airport to take the flight back to La Paz. Flight Uyuni - La Paz- (not included) At your arrival to La Paz, transfer to your hotel (early check in not included) and free morning in La Paz. At 14:00 we will pick you up from your hotel to start the city tour, it begins at the "Witches market" where you will find traditional remedies and witchcrafts to offer to "Pachamama" (Mother Earth) We continue visiting the exteriors of the San Francisco Basilica, the most representative religious temple of the Baroque-Mestizo style in Bolivia and then we address ourselves to Murillo Square, in its surroundings there are: The Presidential Palace, the headquarters of the Congress of the Republic and the Cathedral, later we will visit a museum at the Jaen Street, a small beautiful patrimonial street which is a reflex of the colonial past of the city. Our next stop is a panoramic viewpoint from there you will have a great view of La Paz city. Finally, we go to the south part of the city to get to the Moon Valley, a natural area formed due to the erosion and clay composition of the soil, wind and rain have created a valley filled with stalagmites. Day 16: CUSCO: CITY TOUR AND NEARBY RUINS

Morning at leisure In the afternoon, admire the wonderful pre-Hispanic and colonial legacy of Cusco, an interesting journey where you will learn about the Temple of the Sun "Koricancha", ancient place of worship to the Sun God of the Incas where the convent of Santo Domingo was located, admire the beauty of the Main Square of Cusco, and observe the most known sculptures and paintings of the Cusqueño Art inside the cathedral. The tour includes the visit to the Inca complexes of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive Sacsayhuaman Fortress, strategically built on a hill overlooking Cusco, famous for its huge stones of its external walls, cut and assembled with stunning precision. Day 17: CUSCO - SACRED VALLEY: AWANAKANCHA, PISAQ MARKET, RUINS AND OLLANTAYTAMBO

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel to start your excursion of the Sacred Valley. Our first stop is in Awanakancha (weaver's palace in Quechua), a breeding center of South American camels (guanacos, llamas, alpacas, and vicunas). Artisans will demonstrate weaving and dyeing ancient Andean techniques from 12 communities still in use today. We will continue to Pisaq where you will visit the colorful market. Originally a place where people from remote communities used to barter their products, Pisaq has evolved to one of South America's most famous souvenir markets. Our next stop is the ruins of Pisaq, a site set high above a valley by patterned fields and rimmed by vast terracing. The stonework and panoramas at Pisaq's Inca citadel are magnificent. In the main ruins, you will find temples of the sun, moon, rain, rainbow, and stars, as well as a few Inca crosses rising from the ground. The cross represents the different levels of existence: The lower level signifies the underworld, and snake god; the higher level, human existence, represented by the jaguar or puma god; and the highest level, the celestial plane, represented by the condor. A delicious buffet lunch is included in a local restaurant in Urubamba. Our last stop is the fortress of Ollantaytambo where the Temple of the Sun (formed of six gigantic monoliths, whose total weight exceeds 50 tons) and the Terrace of the Ten Niches stand out. Day 18: SACRED VALLEY - MACHU PICCHU

Today get ready to live one of the most fascinating and extraordinary experiences of the world: Machu Picchu! Early in the morning, you will be transferred to Ollanta train station (only transportation) where the adventure begins by embarking on one of the most beautiful railway routes, pass through picturesque Andean landscapes and enjoy the amazing lush jungle until you arrive to Aguas Calientes town. Here you will ta ke a bus and for 30-minutes' drive along a zigzagging path leading to the marvelous citadel. Machu Picchu may have been home of Pachacutec, the first Inca emperor. Walk through passageways and alleys of the citadel and enjoy and take in this unique place in the world (Note the guided visit of Machu Picchu has a duration of 2:30hrs.) Day 19: MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO
